The Bible is truly a wonderful book. It leads us to faith in Jesus Christ, nourishes us as we grow in that faith, and continues to guide, shape, and correct us throughout our lives. For millions of Christians across generations and around the world, it has been their most treasured possession.

The Ao Baptist Church Association celebrated the Silver Jubilee of the Ao Naga Holy Bible—Temeshi La —on November 29, 1989. This occasion marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time a complete Holy Bible had been translated into any Naga language. For the Ao people, Temeshi Lai stands as the largest literary work ever produced in the Ao Naga dialect. Beyond serving as sacred scripture, it also laid the foundation for written literature in the Ao language. Indeed, it remains one of the greatest achievements of the Ao Naga Christian Churches.

Dr. I. Asongla Pongen has been actively involved in Theological Education under the Senate of Serampore College (University) since 1998. She currently supervises research students at the South Asia Theological Research Institute (SATHRI) and is also the proprietor of a Theological Library and Research Consultancy.

She is the author of Tamangdir Martoshi: A Biography of the First Convert from Longmisa Village (2005) and Challenges and Issues of Gender-Based Violence: A Christian Education Perspective (2020). She also served as co-editor of The History of the Longmisa Baptist Church (2022). In addition to these works, she has contributed numerous articles to various theological journals and magazines.
