Thinking with India, Forming the Human retrieves the intellectual and spiritual legacy of Jnana Deepa, Pune, at the centenary of its ecclesiastical degree-granting service. More than an institutional history, the book presents Jnana Deepa as a school of integral Indian Christian formation. It remembers teachers who shaped generations through metaphysics, epistemology, Nyaya, Advaita, bhakti, hermeneutics, liberation, sociology, psychology, folk religion, Dalit Christianity, science-religion dialogue, and public reason. Its central argument is that philosophy at Jnana Deepa was never isolated from life. It trained minds, formed hearts, widened horizons, and prepared students to think truthfully, believe responsibly, dialogue humbly, heal inwardly, and serve justly. Written with the affection of an insider and the care of a scholar, the volume becomes both homage and invitation: to remember a living tradition and to renew it for the Church, India, and the human future. It is grateful, critical, hopeful, and quietly demanding in tone.
