As it is explicit from the title of the book, it is a commentary on the Gospel according to Mark in the New Testament. When we have several commentaries on this Gospel, it is quite natural to ask why there should be another one on this Gospel. This is one that has used lucid language written by an Indian author having in mind students of Indian origin. The author has made use of various contemporary theological approaches to the study of the New Testament Gospels.
Abraham Philip been in the ministry of the church and especially in the ministry of teaching in theological Seminaries for the last few decades. The author is a prolific writer who has numerous books to his credit. He (born in 1954) had his education at Asram High School, Perumbavoor; and Union Christian College, Aluva in Kerala. His theological studies were at Leonard Theological College, Jabalpur; Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, England; SATHRI - United Theological College, Bangalore and Federated Faculty, Kottayam. He served in parishes in Bombay, Calcutta, England, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam. He also served as the Director of Dr. Thomas Mar Athanasius Memorial Orientation and Research Centre, Kottayam (1989-94), taught at Mulanthuruthy Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary (1993-96, 2001-02) and Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam (2001-2019), Federated Faculty for Research in Religion and Culture (2003-2025). He is now retired from active service, and lives with his family at Kottayam
