Doing Mission with Muslims: Foundations, History, Theology, and Contemporary Approaches by Rev. Dr. Vinod S. Sailus is not merely a book, it is a landmark contribution to missiological scholarship and interfaith engagement. With remarkable clarity, depth, and pastoral sensitivity, Dr. Vinod bridges theology, history, and lived experience to present a vision of Christian mission that is both faithful to the Gospel and profoundly respectful of Muslim neighbours. This work stands out for its comprehensive scope: from the foundations of Islamic belief and practice, through historical encounters with figures like Theodore Abu Qurra, Ramon Llull, Henry Martyn, and Kenneth Cragg, to contemporary voices such as Lamin Sanneh and Asghar Ali Engineer. Each chapter is meticulously researched, yet written with accessibility that invites students, pastors, and scholars alike into meaningful reflection.

What makes this book truly compelling is its insistence on Mission with Muslims rather than Mission to Muslims. This subtle but transformative shift embodies humility, dialogue, and accompaniment, values urgently needed in today’s pluralistic and often polarized world. Readers will find here not only academic insight but also practical guidance for living out Christian witness with integrity, compassion, and courage. Dr. Vinod’s scholarship is enriched by his personal missionary experience, his teaching vocation, and his deep pastoral heart. The book is a testimony to a life shaped by faith, dialogue, and service. It is destined to become a seminal text in missiology, inspiring generations of students and practitioners to engage Islam not with fear or superiority, but with love, respect, and theological depth. This is a book that will open minds, soften hearts, and strengthen the Church’s commitment to God’s reconciling mission in the world. It deserves to be read widely, discussed deeply, and treasured as a guide for faithful Christian presence in Muslim contexts.
