In an age when the Church and society increasingly recognise the need for authentic, participatory, and accountable leadership, Toward a Shared Synodal Responsibility offers a significant contribution to contemporary biblical and theological scholarship. Grounded in an exegetical study of Deut 1:9-18, this work examines how Moses, confronted with the burden of leadership, wisely shared his responsibility with others for the good of the community. This biblical paradigm becomes especially relevant in the context of the Churchs contemporary reflection on Synodality, which emphasises listening, participation, co- responsibility, and communion among all the People of God. In both the greater and smaller spheres of responsibility, leaders are invited to imitate Moses by fostering collaboration, encouraging participation, and discerning together for the common good. It ultimately presents shared responsibility not simply as an organisational strategy, but as a profound spiritual and ecclesial calling for every leader in the Church today.

Sr. Arul Rosy Rabella George belongs to the Congregation of Sisters of Charity of St. Anne, Bombay Province. With an interdisciplinary academic background in both mathematics and theology, she holds Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Education, a Diploma in Spirituality and Philosophy, a Bachelor of Theology from St. Peters Pontifical Institute, and a Licentiate in Biblical Studies from Jnana Deepa Institute of Philosophy and Theology. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in New Testament Studies at the University of Innsbruck, specialising in the Gospel of John. Her writings combine biblical scholarship, pastoral sensitivity, and theological reflection, with a special focus on the transformative relevance of Scripture for the life and mission of the Church today.
