Christian doctrine is the term used to denote the whole body of Christian teaching. In a narrow sense it is used to describe the particular aspects of their faith: the Doctrine of God, human nature and sin, Salvation, Christ, Holy Spirit, Church and the like. Christian doctrine is not the object of Christian faith. Christians do not believe in this or that doctrine or doctrinal system but in God. (Shirley C. Gurthrie)

Christian doctrine is like the bones which give strength and shape to the human body. It is like the steel rods which reinforce concrete structures. Without doctrine, faith becomes shapeless, weak and vulnerable. It addresses, interprets and transforms human experience, in order that a dynamic living and resilient faith may result. (Alister E. McGrath)
