This book explores the feminist spirituality of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, a pioneering spiritual movement founded in India that has empowered women as spiritual leaders within a traditionally patriarchal society. Through an in-depth examination of its teachings, practices, and organizational structure, the book reveals how the Brahma Kumaris challenge conventional gender roles by emphasizing the equality of souls and the transformative power of spirituality. The research also draws meaningful connections between Brahma Kumaris spirituality and Christian feminist spirituality, offering fresh insights for interfaith dialogue and the advancement of gender justice within religious contexts. Combining rigorous scholarship with empathetic fieldwork, this book highlights the potential of spirituality as a liberating force for women and a catalyst for social transformation.
A vital contribution to women’s studies, religious scholarship, and feminist theology, this work invites readers to reconsider the role of spirituality in fostering equality, dignity, and holistic human development across diverse cultural and religious landscapes.
