Prof. Shyam K. Basumatary, Ph.D., an ordained minister of Boro Baptist Convention, currently teaches Christian Education at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, Assam. He served in the “North Bank Baptist Christian Association (NBBCA)” for a decade (1983-1992) as a secretary of Christian Education and Youth department. Then he served eight years (1992-2000) in “The Association For Theological Education by Extension (TAFTEE) as Regional Coordinator for North East India region. He joined United Theological College, Bengaluru and served as a lecturer in 2003-2005. He also served as an honorary pastor of Shakomato Centre Baptist Church and Udalguri Nalbari Baptist Church for five years. In 2015 he earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Theology from Toronto School of Theology, Canada, affiliated with the Association of Theological Schools in North America and Canada.
He has published three books, Keeping Faith: An Integrative Model of Christian Religious Education in Postcolonial Perspective (2017), An Integrative Model of Christian Education in Postcolonial Perspective: A Subaltern Approach (2023) and Mission and Ministry: Perspectives for 21-Century Bodo Churches (2023). He also has published a number of articles in reputed journals.
